Nike Ace Summerlite Golf Shoes — Cute Enough for Brunch After

Let me tell you about the most stressful purchase of my golf journey so far. Not the clubs. Not the lessons. The shoes.

The Problem

My first few range sessions, I wore running shoes. Nobody said anything, but I could feel the judgment. Then I went to an actual course for the first time and saw the dress code sign: “Proper golf shoes required.” Cool. Cool cool cool.

Why These

I spent an embarrassing amount of time on golf shoe reviews. Most golf shoes look like they were designed by someone who has never seen a shoe they liked. Chunky, white, aggressive — giving “dad at a corporate outing” energy.

First Impressions

They’re stupid light. Like, I picked up the box and thought they forgot to put the shoes in. Coming from running shoes, the weight difference is barely noticeable, which is exactly what I wanted. I didn’t want to feel like I was wearing moon boots on the course.

The colorway I got (white/barely green) is clean without being boring. My friend said they looked “like tennis shoes but make it fashion” and honestly, accurate.

On the Course

Here’s where it gets real. I wore them for a 9-hole round on a dewy morning. The grip? Actually impressive. I expected to slip on the wet grass (because spikeless) but the traction pattern held up well. My swing felt stable, which is saying a lot because my swing is… a work in progress.

The comfort over 4 hours of walking was great. No blisters, no hot spots, no “I need to sit down RIGHT NOW” moments. My feet felt fine at brunch after. Yes, I went straight to brunch. Yes, they looked fine.

The One Problem

I’m normally a size 7 and these run narrow. My right pinky toe staged a protest by hole 6. If I could do it over, I’d size up half. This seems to be a common complaint based on reviews I read — it’s a Nike thing, apparently.

Also, they’re not waterproof. I knew this going in, but on that dewy morning, my socks were damp by hole 3. Not soaked, but definitely not dry. If you play morning rounds regularly, consider the waterproof version (it exists, it’s just $40 more and slightly less cute).

The Verdict

For a beginner who cares about looking put-together and wants shoes that transition from course to real life, the Ace Summerlite is a great pick. Just size up and accept the dew situation.
